Stained Glass Girl

by Old Joy

/

about

This was a song I wrote and recorded for my friends short film series "White Spades." The series was never completed, but I still like the song, and I hope you do too. Engineered by Alex Reindl and Kevin Wilson and the Marina City Towers, June 2016.
Mixed and Mastered by Keifer Douglas, March 2020

lyrics

She's the kind of girl you'll miss
even when you're with her
you ain't in her
Heart is thin and cracked like glass
ask her how it broke
she'll laugh at your joke

But if you leave her
don't believe her
she lies
when she loves you
she's not of you
she hides

Remember her paint drying on cathedral walls
you can always call on sadness now
her eyes frozen like the lake and drowned
watch as she goes down into herself again

see-thru paint in swirls
she twirls
my stained glass girl
