Some Song I Wrote While I Was Away From You

from Old Joy (demos) by Old Joy

/

about

just a love song. Wrote it in 2011 while i was in california, about someone I missed in chicago, then forgot about it for four years, then remembered it again when i went to jail, and thought about someone else who i really missed, and all the sentiment still applied so i recorded it when i got out, summer of 2015

lyrics

When we’re together again my love, you know I won’t forget a thing.
I’ve seen both faces of the watch, fast and slow, and I know what those second hands bring
I’ll make every minute count my dear, to make up for the time we were apart
And If I lost track of the tickin’ of the clock
I never missed a beat of my own heart
Cuz everybody has their own true love whose heart keeps time with theirs even far apart
I’m lucky I know who mine is
I’m lucky I heard your heart

When we’re together again my love, I hope you don’t forget a thing
And if the fates decide to separate us again, I’ll always stay true to the love that I’m in
Cuz everybody has their own true love, whose heart keeps time with theirs even far apart
I’m lucky I know who mine is
I’m lucky I heard your heart
