Gas Station Glasses

from Old Joy (demos) by Old Joy

about

wrote this song in the summer of 2013 while on a camping trip in minnesota. the gas station glasses really inspired me. Finally recorded it in summer of 2015

lyrics

Baby get trashy like trash bags are passes
And cover my eyes up like gas station glasses
If love is blind, deaf, dumb, or on time
Then I”ll make love late, waitin’ till youre mine
I could be dreamin or I could be dead
But I won’t be sleepin till you’re wrapped round my head
And we won’t look flashy, we’ll tell by their glances
But I”ll wear you round town like gas station glasses

Girl I”ve been hunting for a stylish pair
Of some Dolce Gabana or Prada to wear
But they don’t do me justice, though precious they’re poor
And though they look good they’re not what I look for
I’m looking for something striking to the core
I think I’d care more for something more care worn
The good ones are cheap and babe you were free
Like death in a dream you just came to me

They say that true beauty’s as fair as it’s price
And tell me that true love is clean and thinks twice
But I can get trashy like trash bags are passes
And wear you all day like gas station glasses
I’d rather be crass than class conscious or casted
The life I have left is too quickly passing
So babe lets get trashy, trash bag back stage passes
And get outta this town like gas station glasses
